Diabetes and the Summer Heat

The CDC published an article sharing the difference diabetics face in the summer months along with some advice on how to enjoy your summer safely.

“Did you know that people who have diabetes—both type 1 and type 2—feel the heat more than people who don’t have diabetes?”

The CDC’s tips include:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Check your blood sugar before, during, and after being active
  • Wear loose fitting, lightweight clothing
  • Don’t go barefoot, even at the beach or pool

They have also included suggestions for power outages and keeping your insulin cool.
