The Imbed Biosciences next generation portfolio of products for surgical wounds, burns, and ulcers are uniquely designed to meet the complex needs of each of these wound types.1 Each product family, sourced and manufactured by Imbed entirely in the USA, provides a unique combination of elements necessary to achieve ideal healing with these goals in mind:
- Provide a consistent biocompatible matrix for varied and complex wounds.2
- Supply non-toxic antimicrobial benefit to control bacteria.3
- Maintain an ideal moisture environment.4,5,6
Through proprietary and unique advanced materials science, Imbed Biosciences products improve outcomes efficiently and economically – helping patients return to their lives faster – more efficiently – and more economically.
How It Works
Imbed Biosciences products are cutting edge, one-of-a-kind therapeutics delivering unique benefits in surgery, with burns and other wounds.1
Each product line is designed to meet the complex needs of each varying wound type by providing: A customized and fully-synthetic and biocompatible matrix – a long lasting, non-toxic, and highly effective (99.99%) antimicrobial benefit – and the specific moisture management characteristics needed for each varying wound type.2,3,4,5,6
Building A Unique Synthetic Matrix
Wounds are messy and disorganized. Ulcers, burn wounds, and surgical wounds all differ in needs and complexity. Each wound bed can be a challenging place for wounds to heal. This is particularly true if the patient has diabetes or vascular disease that impair normal wound healing.
The ability to produce and manufacture a unique and consistent wound matrix specifically formulated for various wound types is unmatched in the industry.
Fully Synthetic Matrix
Imbed Biosciences product lines comprise a proprietary blend of synthetic polymers. Each unique three-dimensional matrix is specifically designed to best meet the needs of surgical wounds, complex burn wounds, and ulcers. These matrices are built to conform to the wound bed and provide a moist wound healing environment.2,4
Importantly, Imbed Biosciences products do not contain any human or animal derived tissues or cells. Risks or opposition generally associated with allograft or xenograft products do not exist.
Hydration and Healing
Each Imbed Biosciences product line contains specific amounts of polyvinyl alcohol for handling characteristics and moisture management. Hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), an inactive component of many drug formulations, cosmetics, and personal care items is a polymer on the FDA’s GRAS (generally recognized as safe) list.7
PVA in the products absorb wound fluid and help maintain ideal moisture right where it is needed to maintain a moist wound healing environment.4
Maintaining a moist wound environment is critical for proper wound healing and varies depending on wound type. Research shows wounds heal faster when kept ideally hydrated. Keeping chronic wounds, burn wounds, and surgical wounds ideally hydrated also pose specific challenges.4,5,6
There are several specific ways that maintaining moisture at the wound bed help:5,6
- Wound healing takes less time
- Wound cells function more easily
- Facilitated Autolytic debridement
- Decreased incidence of wound infection
- Preserved growth factors in wound fluid
- Stimulated collagen synthesis
- Reduced Scarring
