Building A Unique Synthetic Matrix

Wounds are messy and disorganized. Ulcers, burn wounds, and surgical wounds all differ in needs and complexity.   Each wound bed can be a challenging place for wounds to heal. This is particularly true if the patient has diabetes or vascular disease that impair normal wound healing.

The ability to produce and manufacture a unique and consistent wound matrix specifically formulated for various wound types is unmatched in the industry.

Fully Synthetic Matrix

Imbed Biosciences product lines comprise a proprietary blend of synthetic polymers. Each unique three-dimensional matrix is specifically designed to best meet the needs of surgical wounds, complex burn wounds, and ulcers. These matrices are built to conform to the wound bed and provide a moist wound healing environment.2,4

Importantly, Imbed Biosciences products do not contain any human or animal derived tissues or cells. Risks or opposition generally associated with allograft or xenograft products do not exist.

Hydration and Healing

Each Imbed Biosciences product line contains specific amounts of polyvinyl alcohol for handling characteristics and moisture management.  Hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), an inactive component of many drug formulations, cosmetics, and personal care items is a polymer on the FDA’s GRAS (generally recognized as safe) list.7

PVA in the products absorb wound fluid and help maintain ideal moisture right where it is needed to maintain a moist wound healing environment.4

Maintaining a moist wound environment is critical for proper wound healing and varies depending on wound type. Research shows wounds heal faster when kept ideally hydrated. Keeping chronic wounds, burn wounds, and surgical wounds ideally hydrated also pose specific challenges.4,5,6
